The name "ALLTA" comes from the Scottish Gaelic and means "wild". Glenmorangie ALLTA Private Edition No. 10 is the first whisky to be made with wild yeast (Saccharomyces diaemath). The yeast used in this whisky grows wild on Glenmorangie's own barley. Dr. Bill Lumsden, Director of Distilling, discovered the then unknown wild yeast in his own barley fields. This gave him the idea of combining the wild yeast with a selected Glenmorangie. The birth of the tenth Private Edition. The storage takes place in former Bourbon barrels.Tasting notes:Colour: Light straw gold. Nose: Round, powerful aromas, floral notes, baked bread, vanilla, raisins, mandarin oranges. Flavour: Floral, creamy, citrus, butter caramel, vanilla notes, orange syrup, yeast, light chilli notes. Finish: Long lasting, peppermint and bitter orange.
